It was almost a year ago that we released our first podcast. Our first podcast was a lovely conversation with a lesbian couple in Ethiopia and I remember my cofounder and I being completely awed by the feedback.
After listening to it, a friend wrote and said, ““Half way through, and what an amazing job! Betam arif – humanises the Abesha dyke experience for Ethiopians. All three of you – take a bow!” she goes on to say “Mark my words – this interview will be a huge moment in Ethiopian queer history.” It was good to hear it. Another friend said, “i can’t tell you how affirming it was to hear this conversation in amarigna from the perspective of queer folx living here”.
We hoped that we would have an impact but we were not prepared for the way that so many people related to the conversation and felt “heard” and “seen” by others in the LBTQ community.
We have so much more to say about Ethioqueer Podcast as we come to the final episode for this season. We cannot wait for you to hear our conversation as we take a look back at the last year. In the podcast scheduled to be released next week, we – the cofounders – introduce ourselves and Queer Ethiopia which produces Ethioqueer Podcast. We will also give you an inside look into Ethioqueer podcast and hope you will listen to this final episode of the season.
Thank you for listening to us and we look forward to receiving your feedback so that we come back stronger for season two.
