Thoughts on body image

In regard to body image, I want to tell people who are in the [queer] community and who are just finding and accepting themselves that outer beauty doesn’t really matter. We are people who take a long time to find ourselves. Given the way that we are raised, our culture, and our religion, accepting ourselves [as queer] leads us to a sense of growth, and so we learn to understand that what really matters is our inner beauty. So what I want to tell women who are just coming out and who are struggling with body image is that what really matters is their self-confidence, loving themselves, and building their personalities. Outer beauty will not lead you far.
