The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign that takes place annually from November 25 to December 10. The campaign aims to raise awareness about gender-based violence and promote actions to end violence against women and girls. It addresses various forms of violence against women by utilizing a variety of media.

In countries like ours, this campaign often does not incorporate the reality and life experiences of queer people. We have our own life experiences as members of the community, and when there is an attack, telling the police or someone close to us makes us even more vulnerable to further violence. Thus, it does not lead to a solution or bring about justice.
During this campaign, Queer Ethiopia will participate in the global effort to end gender-based violence by bringing forward the stories of queer Ethiopians and the various forms of violence that we face every day.
We will be discussing violence from the rest of society as well as within our community; healthy relationships; the impact of gender roles; and so much more.
As always, let’s unite and make our voices heard.
Our struggle will continue.
