Ethioqueer Podcast: A queer refugee’s journey to freedom

For queer people, finding safety in Ethiopia can be filled with fear. Jamzee, a butch Ethiopian queer woman, fled to Kenya to escape persecution. She shares the difficult experiences that made her leave a place where the threat of being outed made life unbearable.

She recounts how she has found new freedom in Kenya, able to love her girlfriend openly without fear. However, she also feels a deep longing for Ethiopia and the people and culture she left behind.
